I have been interested in art since being a wee one, my first focus for art was in photography. When I was growing up in Victoria, BC, Canada everybody in the family had cameras, and we had a darkroom that we set up when needed. In my early twenties I took up painting in acrylics as a hobby, and did a few landscapes and portraits, but this was short lived when a few years later I moved to Toronto, ON. I continued with photography as a hobby and started building up resources to have my own darkroom again. Times change though and with the times, we change. The darkroom plans were aborted and I sold of most of my gear over the years. In 2003 I got a digital camera, and started having fun in photography again. Infra-red photography without IR film! Taking supergrainy shots in board daylight. The digital darkroom was pretty cool aspect of digital photography. A lot of fun. Then in 2006, I took up the brush again, and started anew in painting. It is a rewarding endeavour, one that constantly sees new horizons and suprises.
I mostly just paint from inspiration I have. Sometimes it is an image, or a concept that appeals to me, and I just have to paint it to free it from my mind. Some of the paintings are visual puns, optical illusions, symbolism, social commentary, stream of thought, or just a pretty picture.
Various hobbies and time suckers: painting, photography, computer programming, sudoku, Rubik's cube, video games (Gran Turismo), books, and movies.
